How to Create Dashboards
Learn how to build dashboards by combining visualizations, text blocks, headings, and dynamic filters into interactive, shareable views for your team.
Dashboards let you assemble visualizations, text, headings, and dynamic filters into a unified view that your whole team can access.
Prerequisites
Visualizations must be created within datasets before building dashboards. See the How to Create Visualizations article first.
Create a New Dashboard
- Navigate to Dashboards in the left sidebar
- Click Create Dashboard
- Name your dashboard
Add Visualization Widgets
- In the editor view, click to add a widget
- Select Visualization
- Choose from your existing dataset visualizations
- The chart appears on the canvas
Add Supporting Widgets
- Text block: Add explanatory text using the rich text editor
- Heading: Add section titles to organize the dashboard
- Dynamic filters: Add interactive elements for viewers to filter data in real time
- Available types: Dropdown, Text, Number, Boolean, Date, DateTime, Date Range, DateTime Range
- Configure each filter with a label and link it to specific columns
- Image upload: Add logos or diagrams (JPG, PNG, SVG, max 375KB)
Arrange the Layout
- Drag widgets to reposition them on the canvas
- Resize widgets by dragging the bottom-right corner
- Group related metrics together using headings
- Place KPI cards at the top for executive summaries, then detail charts below
Configure Dashboard Settings
- Adjust the grid columns count for your layout
- Set the gap size between widgets
Save and Publish
- Review your layout (changes are saved as a draft until you publish)
- Click Save to publish
- The dashboard becomes visible to all workspace users based on their role
Tips
- Start with KPI cards at the top, then supporting charts below
- Use dynamic filters to make dashboards interactive for viewers
- Add text blocks to explain methodology or data sources
- Use headings to create clear sections
